Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho is looking to bring an end to the reign of Iker Casillas at Real Madrid after it was revealed that he is planning to sign a new keeper in the summer. Iker Casillas is regarded to be the greatest goalkeepers in the sport today. Despite being relatively young, Iker Casillas has made more than 120 appearances for the Spanish national team and has been part of the Real Madrid team since the age of 18. Iker Casillas has also been inspirational for Real Madrid over the past decade or so.
He is once again proving to be the inspirational leader for Real Madrid this season, as they look towards securing the title from the grasp of Barcelona after a gap of three years. It is thought that Real Madrid are very much interested in signing a few goalkeepers in the summer. However, it is not clear whether José Mourinho is interested in bringing the goalkeeper as a replacement for Iker Casillas or just to act as a backup. José Mourinho’s agent Jorge Mendes has been sent out to various Portuguese clubs in order to find a suitable goalkeeper for Real Madrid next season.
Despite reports that José Mourinho is willing to part company with Real Madrid in the summer, it seems that the Portuguese coach is very much interested in keeping control at the capital club. Real Madrid now have a 10 point advantage of second placed Barcelona. Many regard the 10 point advantage to be a very significant one in the Spanish domestic league. There have been a few reports that Iker Casillas has not seen manager José Mourinho eye-to-eye over the last few months after a rift occurred between the two. The bitter clashes with Barcelona seem to have brought a difference of opinion amongst the two.
